Rear gears swap

2005 1500 Avalanche, 4 X 4. Does anyone know if 4.10 gears will fit in a 3.42rear end housing?

Re: Rear gears swap

I want to pull a 4800 lb travel trailer, and was told that the 3.42 rear end will be way too doggy if I encounter any hills...

Re: Rear gears swap

Yes they will fit, but a 3.73 will get the job done unless you have really large tires.

Due to the expense of changing both front and rear and loss of fuel mileage I would try it as is.
But make sure you have a big extra transmission cooler.
Good Luck
