Is it worth it?
Would you recommend purchasing a 2000 Jag S-type with 40k miles? I have heard some bad things about the Jag. Lot of maintenace, expensive to fix, always has problems? What are your thoughts?

Re: Is it worth it?
KBB reference: Trade-In Allowance
2000 4.0 40K Miles in Fair/Excellent condition = $4175 - $5300 I wouldn't give no more than $500 + Trade-In allowance. 1) The water problems for the Bonnet (Hood) & boot (Trk) is a easy fix,see forums. The bad Spark plug boss seals could of gone bad, because of Bad oil service. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=893556 2) The root problems for 2000 s type jags is water & oil shorting out Coil on Plugs (COP)thus causing misfiring. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=882939 3) The seconday cam chain tensioners will wear + tear, like a bad tire, see http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=954555 If you buy parts at discount and do repairs yourself, this car is fun to play with. However if you pay for Jag service you will get raped! ![]() I would consider buying a 2005 S TYPE 4.2 @ a huge savings with less baggage in Boot! The tranny issues i think come from this pause these cars do before they get into gear.....when you test drive one, im sure you will feel it doesnt go into gear right away, wait for it to go into gear, and move out slow. Wife and i use it as our daily (her car) and just did a service. Now, if you want some hp...go for the STR...my 2007 STR is a different animal....look at a few and drive a few and chech past records, you will love the ride...i know we do
