which distibutor do I have?

I'm going to have my intake plenum off to replace the fuel regulator that leaks and I remember my PLASTIC distributor body is stripped and needs removed so I thought I'd order the replacement.

Years ago when doing cap/rotor,plugs ect. I priced out only the plastic body and was less than $20 , but I didn't get it.

I now want to get a new distributor with cap, rotor, body, internals, ect. but Which one do I have?

It is a 1995 W engine with posts out the side (horizontal)
The body doesn't move and has a roll pin to keep it in place along with clamp.
It is called a high voltage switch I think and is early OBDII.

There's a number of horizontal posts on rock auto , but some have metal body and what is PM module? Do I have that? K-29?

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...?a=G-autoparts

I guess the link won't work 1995 / blazer / W / ignition /distributor.

Re: which distibutor do I have?

1995 was a changeover year. They came with 3 different systems. Both of the later systems used horizontal connections for the spark plug wires. If you tell the parts store the wires are horizontal and that you have a camshaft position sensor in the distributor, or tell them it's a 1996, you'll be fine.

Re: which distibutor do I have?

I was going to get from rock auto.

There's no question when getting a cap, but on the complete distributor it could be a

DORMAN Part # 690900 (could be plastic)
A-1 CARDONE Part # 301636 (could be plastic)
DELPHI Part # CZ20007 (looks like a metal housing)

I don't know if it has a cam sensor inside.

CARDONE SELECT Part # 841639
A-1 CARDONE Part # 301639
RICHPORTER Part # GM02

also looks promising from 1996 listing.

Re: which distibutor do I have?

How many electrical connectors are on the distributor housing? If only one, it is a camshaft position sensor. If two, then it does NOT have a CMP sensor. If the distributor is not adjustable, like you mentioned, I'll bet is has one connector. 1639 distributor number.

Re: which distibutor do I have?

I just looked at it.

It has at least 2 connections that I could see.

A 3 wire pointing back and then a bit lower and to the side it has a smaller 2+ wire connector.

I'm not sure if this helps identify it , but I remember the housing being able to be used for a 6 cyl or an 8 cyl engine. If you had an 8 then the rotor points to the 8 and the 6 cyl points to the 6 (maybe it was inside the housing) under the cap.

Re: which distibutor do I have?

If the distributor looks like this, it's the old style OBDI distributor, part # 30-1635

Probably be a good idea to bring the old distributor with you to the parts store and match it up.

Re: which distibutor do I have?

definately not that one. It has two connectors, but only one is pointing back , the other is to the side and lower. With a black plastic body.
