five speed transmission interchange

i have a 88 camaro that i installed a 1971 400 cid from a box crate out of my friends basement,i have installed many aftermarket parts, now my trans is bad .i bought a 90 v/6 trans from a camaro.the splines on the pilot shaft are differet than my v/8 trans can i buy a cltch with the proper splines to match.will a v/6 transmission fit a v/8? i know the bell housing fits but can a v/6 transmission work and what other transmission fit?

No factory 5 speed transmission will survive behind that engine. A V6 5 speed will grenade the first time you goose it.
