olds intrigue fuel door and trunk release issue

Its is really weird. I am able to open the trunk with my remote using the trunk release button but i can't seem to use the buttons on the instrumental panel next to the illumination and fog light switch. I hate popping my trunk everytime i have to get gas. What could be the issue with this. I already have checked all the fuses and they all seem to be fine. I also hear a click when i press the trunk release button but not when i press the buttons on instrumental panel. Please help!!!! Walk through instructions would be greatly appericiated.

Not sure if the name, but your fuel release mechanism may be bad for starters. it is located behind the carpeted wall in the trunk. I had to replace when the release part started sticking. Got a used one at a salvage yard for like $10. Easy to replace. Remove nut around release by gas cap and a few screws holding it in the trunk.

The fuel and trunk buttons run thru the transaxle range switch.Prevents accidental release while driving.Either trans switch needs adjustment to know its in park or the wire from the transaxle range switch plug (circuit 275,light green) to the underhood accessory wiring block is broken.Took me weeks to figure it out and im glad to share what I found.
