Leaking Transaxle Seal
I replaced R the axle shaft and seal on my 98 Taurus, but have a small leak. I think I marred the seal by trying to drive it in with an assortment of similar sized drivers. I need to replace it again because the leak drips onto the exhaust so it smokes and smells! Any tips on replacing the seal? Jim

Re: Leaking Transaxle Seal
on your new seal, on the inside where the spring is, litely put vasoline on the spring, the reason for that is, so it does not pop out during installation. find a big socket that will fit on the outter lip of the seal.( it could be a pipe). if you allready put a new seal in, you could of knocked out the spring. hope this will help.
