It could be just about anything as far as the smoke goes? I did have it off the road for a while but why the dead battery? It did start but not any more? Could it be alternator ? not the starter! Could it just be the battery? What about the smoke I did fill up the transmission and spilled a lot could it be that? for some reason i thought it was coming from the manifold to engine? I was going to go under i shut it off and jacked it up and now it will not even allow me to jump it! Anyone know what the *&%^ is going on? the smell of the smoke was not too bad but there was a lot of it!!

Re: done with oil pan now car will not start jumped it and started smoking?
Will it turn over? Sounds like you might have a wire mixed up somewhere... Ground, Started cables, not sure if it has them but maybe fuseable links... Try revamping your work..... Wheres the smoke coming from? Dash? Under steering wheel column? Might be a bad started and it took out the switch.

Re: done with oil pan now car will not start jumped it and started smoking?
Hi Nick
I assumed your phone went dead, just heard a bunch of music playing. The smoke is normal after fooling with a bunch of stuff on an engine like that. You said you spilled some trans fluid right. It usually burns off after a few minutes. Of course you are running open manifolds so the smoke will be right by the engine and not out the tail pipe. About the no start thing, I don't know. Check those starter wires like Bryan said. The bat will go dead if it's a week one, especially in cold weather, or if it is not being used daily. Just keep plugging away at it, there is always some bugs to work out. That's part of the joy of working on things. Take a break and get back to it, so you don't destroy the car with a ball bat or something.
