Rob's gmc pickup...

Well, here is my next project. After I showed my ratty ranchero to a friend he asked me if I could make a model of his pickup. The hardest part will be the bedliner. I could not find any material that looked remotely similar so I ended up having to build it from evergreen stock. The kit is the Fall Guy gmc pickup, a shortbed raised 4x4 while Rob's pickup is a 2x4 longbed so I had to buy two and modify..

closing the gaps

he has some welds on his truck

extended the bed and made a bench seat from the four buckets

template

first few pieces

lots and lots of little pieces

looks great, even my wife was impressed!!!

peanut butter jar lid

cut, heated and shaped

pretty close to the real thing!!

That's a great idea for your boxliner, I believe you are the first I have ever seen to make one from scratch.

Re: Rob's gmc pickup...

Finnally an update, been busy and painting the bed gave me problems with bleed through. B.I.N. primer solved those but then i had some airbrush problems, been too long since I used that thing...

the bleed through

primered again

removed the floorboard

added the pedals and parking brale

All it need now are some seatbelts

still wet from paint but is starting to come together.

Re: Rob's gmc pickup...

It looks like your hard work is going to payoff nicely! Could you show a picture of the Bin paint can? I have heard about this product but, I have not found it yet.

Thanks,
TW

Re: Rob's gmc pickup...

Finally finished with the pickup. Here are the last wip pics and the finished model. Actually it's 99% done. Still waiting for the sierra and gmc decals for the wheel caps. Yes, his truck is that dirty... it's a wip too.

On wheels..

extended the exhaust with solder

Re: Rob's gmc pickup...

Looks dam good man!!! You can get the hubcaps in the A-Team van kit. I think they have the chevy logo on them tho. That is what I will use for my 1:1 suburban. The bedliner came out awsome!!!
