Question Starter "Dragging"

I have an 06 Impala LT 3.9L. when starting car with factory remote start i notice that sometimes as the car is trying to start, the starter will "drag" or the starter keeps turning and the car starts hard. I had a 05 Malibu and i noticed it would do the same thing sometimes. It is only an occasional problem so right now im not going to waste my time taking it to the dealer so they can tell me "We cant replicate the problem"

Any thoughts???

Re: Starter "Dragging"

I've had a similar issue in the past with my 2006 Uplander with the 3.5 ( factory remote also.) My starter would seem to drag or will keep turning after the key is turned. This does not happen all the time, rather "once in awhile". Below is a quote from another one of my posts (from the Uplander forum) where another member was experiencing a similar issue.

To stop the engine from cranking, simply turn the ignition switch to the "lock", or "accessory" position.
Your vehicles may also have this "Computer Controlled Cranking System" to protect the starter. If you go through your owners manual for your vehicles there should be something listed in there if that system is used on your cars. There is a paragraph that explains about it and says what you are experiencing is normal operation.
