Question

Engine trouble light

HI
My son driving daewoo leganza 1999 and the engine trouble light became on constantly for a few days now. I drove the car last night and I did not find anything unusual but I have to find out what the code is and I need a scan reader, what do you recommend and what is the best and economical approach. Thanks a lot friends
