99 CVPI stalling plus shutting off

Hey everyone and thank Jesus for this website. I own a 99 CVPI 4.6L engine and jus recently (month n a half) my car began to stall wen I accellerated above 30-40 mph then would smoothen out. Now my car heavenly stalls and wont go no faster then 35-40mph. It feels like something is pulling wen i try to accellerate. Then about a week ago, my car began to cutoff. Right before it would cutoff, the coolant light would come on then go off then wen i slow down or if i was going at slow speeds, my car would cutoff. Plz help me because im thinking maybe I jus need an oil change n a tuneup but i think its more to it.
Any suggestions?

Pull the vacuum hose on the fuel pressure regulator if it has fuel in it replace with a new one. If this is dry check the fuel pressure. Make sure your filter is clean.
A fuel problem and an electrical act different on a test drive.

ok thanks, but where exactly is the vacum hose and fuel filter on my car?

The pressure regulator is on the fuel rail going to the injectors. The fuel filter is on the drivers side close to the front of rear wheel. You will need to put the car on jack stands.
You will need a tool for this. The link is a picture of one Advance Auto and Auto Zone sell them.

Ok thank you. Hey could a dirty air filter be causing this problem?

A plugged air filter will shut down the engine on the road. Depends on how bad its plugged.

This may sound like it is way out in left field, but you need to have your ignition coils checked. They have been known to short internally and feed voltage back to the computer and the computer shuts down the car to avoid lots of damage. Somewhere there is a TSB for it. If you want to send me the 17 digit VIN, I can run the TSB's specifically for your vehicle.

Well guys, it was one of my ignition coils misfiring. Now the place is tryin to charge me $342 dollars to replace plus something dealing with a fuse or my fuel filter. Tell me is there a cheaper way to fix this problem because I necessarily dont have to replace all my coils?

Buy the coil yourself and replace it. It is easy to replace. All you need is a 7mm socket, extension and ratchet. Autozone sells them for around 40 to 50$. Motorcraft will last longer, but they are more expensive.

Just tell them to only replace bad parts as money is tight at this time.
