93 c/k cant get stoplight switch right

Does anyone know how to adjust the stoplight switch on a 93 1500? My shop book says push the brake pedal all the way down, and move the lever on the switch forward until it stops and then release. I've been able to get it working right temporarily, but then the brake lights stay on. Tried changing the switch. No luck.

Is it a twist and lock or does it have nuts that you have to lock it down with? either way, I usually install it with the brake pedal untouched, adjust it to the pedal then back if off like 1mm, just a tiny bit.

It snaps into place with no nuts, bolts or clamps. Here's a link to what the switch looks like.

So instead of pushing brake pedal all the way down just push it half or 3/4 and adjust the switch to that and see what happens.

Re: 93 c/k cant get stoplight switch right

Wow, that is not what I expected it to look like at all lol.

Note : The stoplamp switch will self-adjust the first time the brake pedal returns to its stop after the switch is installed.

1. Apply the brake pedal.
2. Pull the lever (A) back to its stop.
3. Pull the brake pedal against the pedal stop.

The lever it has marked as A is behind the C - shaped arm and is toothed it looks like.

You were right. I pushed the pedal about half way down and adjusted the switch. It's been working ever since.
