Aurora V-8 to Intrgue engine swap.

I'm interested in making a serious sleeper out of my car. One thing I've thought of doing is to take a V-8 out of an Aurora and dropping it in my Intrigue. I was wondering if any one else has done or attempted to do this and how difficult would it be?

Re: Aurora V-8 to Intrgue engine swap.

That sounds like a sweet idea except for the transmission. Aurora V8's used 4T80E's, but Aurora V6s and all Intrigues have the 4T65-E transmission. I highly doubt that the V8 would be able to mate up to the weaker transmission without some serious problems. Now you could try swapping in a transmission too, but no W-body cars ever came with the 4T80E, so I don't even know if it would fit.

GM did build an Intrigue prototype (Intrigue OSV 2) that had the Northstar V8 (similar to Aurora V8), so I'll see what transmission they used for it if I can find that information. Supposedly, the engine fit just fine, with only a few minor adjustments needing to be made.

Re: Aurora V-8 to Intrgue engine swap.

Very nice.

How about the LaCrosse 5.3 LS4 4T65E-HD V-8 300 hp vs 4.0 L47 V-8 250hp.

Silly me.
I'm with ya there. I love sleepers.

Monster Intrigue!

Re: Aurora V-8 to Intrgue engine swap.

Don't limit yourself:

The LX5 will rev 5k+ all day with the right oils. You can't be timid with this engine and the 4L Aurora engine is only marginally better in hp.

What you really want is the 3.5L or 4.0L IRL Aurora engine. Why limit yourself when you could easily jam a good 700hp in your Intrigue.

Cool Re: Aurora V-8 to Intrgue engine swap.

If money was no object, put a turbo 3.8. That would be one fast Intrigue. Sweeeeeeeet
