transmission fluid in coolant

my 1993 98 regency has transmission fluid in the coolant my guess the is a leak in the radiator trans cooler. the car will still move in all gears until it heats up i have removed the radiator and flushed the the engine. can drain the transmission install new filter or should it be rebuilt. does the torque converter have a drain plug the transmission is automatic over drive. thank for any help.
