Overdrive light
My 02 Mountaineer is going to 3000 rpms before shifting out of first, all other gears seem to shift ok. After about 10 minutes of driving the
overdrive-off light blinks. Any ideas?? |

Re: Overdrive light
Could be as simple as a bad speed sensor in the transmission. You'll need to get the codes read though to narrow it down better. Since the O/D light is flashing, you'll probably need to have the transmission codes read rather than just the powertrain codes. Typically, the free code scans only access the powertrain codes.

Re: Overdrive light
The o/d light is flashing continuously, there doesnt seem to be a patern. Also if I buy a code reader will that give me the codes I need?

Re: Overdrive light
Nope, you'll need to find a scan tool that can access the transmission. Most of the time, this feature is only available on the professional (ie: expensive) scan tools such as what the dealer uses, the Snap-On tool, or the OTC and its rebadged clones.

Re: Overdrive light
Sorry I havent posted my solution. Still burning for having to spend $2100 on the tranny getting rebuilt.
