2005 F150 6cyl 2ws will not start

A friend of mine has a 2005 F150 and was driving to work back in October and it just quit. It will not start or do anything. Had it towed to the dealer and they have told him there is a problem with the wiring on these trucks and it will all need to be repalced to the tune of at least 2300 up to 5100. This would total the truck because it is only worth at best 6k. They told them back in OCT there would be a recall soon and it would all be covered. He is making payments on it and driving a borrowed car waiting on this recall. Now he is just ready to let the truck go back to Ford Credit because he can't keep using this borrowed car and for sure can't afford to fix it. Does any of this sound familer to anyone. It sounds like a CROCK OF SH!T to me but I was just wondering if someone else has heard of this major wiring problem??
Any help would be great.
Rob

I would have him call Ford's Customer Service phone number and verify this recall is actually true, the wiring on any normally driven street vehicle should last the life of the vehicle long after the rest of the parts are worn out, his truck is only four years old it should not need the wiring of the entire truck replaced.

In the mean time check the obvious...

Is there fuel pressure in the fuel rail?
Are the spark plugs getting spark?
Is the Check Engine light on? Even if it isn't, what codes are being stored?
Did something come unplugged?

Agreed, I find it hard to believe every wire and connector on the harness has a problem with it. And whatever problem it is, if it is a wiring problem, I'm sure it could be fixed without replacing the whole harness.

Just start by giving us the basics. Getting fuel? Getting spark? What kind of information can you give us to determine where to start?
