99 Silverado Code 1345-PLEASE HELP

My check engine light is on and when Autozone pulled the codes they got 1345 - Cam position sensor and Crank position sensor. Replaced the sensor and had them clear the codes, but the same code returns. What can be causing this? I am at a loss.

Codes do not say replace sensor.

For code 1345 the camshaft retard/position sensor needs to be set on a engine capable scanner.
Adjust the dist so the camshaft retard reads as close to -0 or +0 degress as you can get it or within 1-2 degrees - or +.

What is you reading on it?

Let me confess ignorance. What is an engine capable scanner? I am assuming it is more sophisticated than the scanner that Autozone uses. A Mechanic has told me that if the dist. was removed it may not have been replaced in the correct position & that could be causing it to throw a code even thought it still runs. Any feedback?

A engine capable scanner is a scanner that reads out manf. engine data.

Auto zone scanners are only obd11/code reader scanners.
Not engine manf./ eng capable scanner.
They are only.
The one that gives you a code and auto zone parts people sell you a part to fix the code.
And you wind up with the same code.

In other words you need a good high dollar scanner like a GM tech or snapon scanner.
Costing 3-5K$
That reads out manf spefic engine data.
To be able to read out and set the camshaft retard.

See if your or the the mechanic you talked to has the scanner to do it for you.

Post back how it goes.

You are welcome and thanks for posting back how it went.

Unless you are real luckie you stiil need to get it on a engine capable scanner and check and set camshaft retard.
Good Luck

Well I should have included that in my last post. They did have the scanner and set the Distributor to spec. Once again. Thanks for pointing an old "shade tree" mechanic in the right direction. I like to do all the work I can myself. I was just raised that way, but some of the equipment required is just beyond what my pocketbook can deliver.

you are welcome.

You are good shape then.

10-4 on test equipment.
Some of the good scanners run 3-5 and up to 10 grand.
YOU HAVE TO USE THEM EVERY DAY TO PAY FOR THEM.
For a one time deal best to just let a good repair shop do it for you.
Good luck
