Problem with my amp.

lately my amp has been acting pretty funny. firstly when i turned on my car, and turned on the headunit, the amp would be fine(i could tell because the light on the bass nob would be on) but as soon as the first note hit(no matter at what volume) the bass nob would turn off, and this continued for like a week. one day i just decided to unhook the bass nob from the amp, and it actually worked the amp was good for about another week. one day on my way home from work, after about 15 minutes of driving the amp went into protect mode, so i continued home. the next day when i turned on the headunit the amp would go straight to protect mode without before any music even came on. normally the blue lights on top of the amp(i guess for design) would be on even if the amp was in protect mode, but now they don't even come on.

im dumbfounded because when i turn on the headunit i still get the thump from the amp from getting turned on, but the amp is in protect mode, and the normal lights aren't on. anything i can do to troubleshoot, or should i just get a new amp.

btw the amp is 1000 watts and i have had it since around june of 08.

thanks for any help.

Re: Problem with my amp.

try disconnecting the subs and see what happens. If it does the same thing, check the voltage coming in from both the battery and the remote turn on wire.
