Question Airbag light question

Hello,

I noticed that the passenger airbag light will come on and stay on. Is this normal? If nobody is sitting in the passengers seat then the light turns to an X. When someone sits in the seat, the X disappears but the light stays on.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Should there not be a middle Dome Light?

Did you mean to post this in the Montana forum? Because there is not "light" on these van's that I'm aware of for just the passenger side. Sounds more like a truck your talking about.

Re: Should there not be a middle Dome Light?

Yes he did mean to post this here. If you'll notice the original poster edited their post to remove some info , leaving that other. question.
That is why we ask members to not edit their posts if their issue gets resolved as any info posted can help other members searching for help with similar issues. It confuses others especially if the thread title says something different as in this case.

EDIT: I am changing the thread title to better reflect the question the member is asking.

What year? I know this option was available on the '05 and up models as my Uplander (sister to the Montana) has this option, whereas my '97 Venture did not. There is a sensor in the passenger seat that senses weight . Normally, when there is no passenger then the airbag is off, hence the "X" to let the driver know. When someone sits in the passenger seat , their weight triggers the sensor and the airbag light is illuminated on the dash, letting you know the airbag is activated.
Also, in the future, if you post an issue and have it resolved, please leave it in the post and do not edit it. Somebody else may have the same problem in the future and may be searching for posts and replies related to their issue. This site is like an archive of issues and "fixes" to those issues, so that information may be valuable to others.

Re: Airbag light question.

Hey, thanks for the replies and my appologies for editing a resolved issue. My van is a 2006. But from what you guys say this all makes sense why the light would remain on.
