2000 grand prix dic
driver information center is flashing 0 in all modes. sometimes when I initially turn key on everything works for about 10-15 seconds. the traction control off light is luminated all the time. On the second day I noticed that the little guy on the heater control screen is flashing for a couple minutes then stays on. What should I look @ first? Thanks

Re: 2000 grand prix dic
Disconnect the battery for 10 mins and then reconnect.
See if it helps.

Re: 2000 grand prix dic
Welcome to AF.
Your issue sounds like an ignition switch/harness issue to me. It's a very common problem on these cars as they get older. The contacts start to arc, and cause all sorts of odd electrical gremlins including DIC anomalies, HVAC problems, dash/IP lights, etc...

Re: 2000 grand prix dic
It's been awhile. I still have the problem and a few more. The shifter indicator flashes in and out on dash and the outside temp. is reading in the 100's when it's 70 out. I replaced the DIC back in may. The screen went out and i thought that was the problem but back to the 0 reading now. Could it be a corrosion/connection problem in the ignition switch/harness or do I need to replace?

Re: 2000 grand prix dic
I would say with your combination of problems, the ignition switch/harness is the most likely cause.

replaced ignition switch/harness and still have the same problems. I did replace the DIC unit and still the same. What could I look at next?

Re: 2000 grand prix dic
When the DIC flashes 0 in all modes it indicates loss of serial data with other components such as the PCM or BCM modules so the best thing to do is get it scanned with a scan tool like a GM Tech 2 capable of retrieving and reading out GM body/chassis codes. Otherwise you could be looking for a needle in a haystack or just wasting more money on parts not resolving your issue.

Re: 2000 grand prix dic
Hey I finally solved the problem. The main wire harness running on driverside goes around the condensor and then goes to ECM. Well a mechanic at dealer informed me that they had issues with the harness rubbing on condensor. I had 5 wires rubbed through. repaired and all the problems went away. She's a new car. Thank You for your time and suggestions.
