2005 5.7 engine 2WD Transmission Problem

When started cold the transmission is slow to shift into reverse or drive. If I go back to neutral then to the gear again it seems to help. The truck has 60,000 on it, but it has always done this occasionally, almost all the time now. Any thoughts, I never took it to dealer for the problem because it was so random I figured it was a waste of time.

Thanks, that hit the nail on the head. Should Dodge cover this since there are defective parts involved?

If it is still under warranty for powertrain I wouldn't see why not. Have you flushed the trans at all?
