Re: octane boosters

in the biofuel cars they use octane booster so the biofuel can match the power of gasoline, thats fact. but as far as going from 91 octane to almost a hundred, i doubt it, u might get a one or 2 octane difference in my opinion. i could be wrong, ive never used em, anyone got any experience with them, im curious as well

Re: octane boosters

I wouldn't bother with octane boosters. If you read the label, they claim to boost the octane by one point. In the fine print, one point = 0.1 octane. So you will need 10 bottles to go from 91 to 92 octane. Assuming that a bottle cost $3.50 than it would take $35.00 just to go up one octane number. You're better off finding a Sunoco that sells 94.

Re: octane boosters

you're better off spending the money on race gas.

running a higher octane than your engine calls for does not get you more power...my stock vr4 will make the same power on 93 octane as it would on 105 octane. All it will do is waste your money.

Re: octane boosters

Actually your car would probably make less power on 105.

The higher the octane the harder it is to burn.

Re: octane boosters

the higher the octane number, the less combustible it is right? so would you need a higher compression engine for it to make a power difference?

Re: octane boosters

Basically, the higher the octane the less likely it is to pre-detonate. So, the more boost, compression, or timing you run the high octane fuel will help but only to a point.

As for octane boosters, they don't raise your octane enough to make any kind of difference. They are a complete waste of money. Just buy the octane best suited to your car.
