1/24 Rothmans Porsche 959 Paris to Dakar

One of my favorite cars of all times, the oldie but goodie Porsche 959 Paris to Dakar 4X4 racer in Rothmans livery. The attached is one of the few non box-stock builds that I have done. It is the chassis and body and engine of the street 959 from Tamiya (in itself a nice kit). Tires, interior and decals and other appurtences from a Nitto kit (I think), wheels from a Tamiya escort rally kit (no not correct). I basically cut and adjusted the suspension, adding longer shock absorbers and springs to get the ride height higher, the front under body clip is also from the bad Nitto kit. The decals were cracked so I made do. All the colors are paint, white, blue, red and silver. Engine was left pretty much stock, I might go back later and fix - my 21 month old got a hold of this one a few weeks back and got a hold of my 95% build of the MFH 2008 Gulf DBR9 last night.

Great work, it looks terrific. I've always liked this car, and kinda always wanted to build one. The idea that Porsche could win the Dakar with a 959 always seemed so delightfully absurd (imagine for a moment Ferrari attempting it with a modified 288 GTO ) that for me it forever assured the 959s place in my pantheon of coolest cars ever.

Excellent idea! I dream to construct such version. Certainly your work not absolutely corresponds to the real machine 86г year that has upset not much.....
