1998 MonteCarlo Z34 Wheel noise

I have a 1998 Montecarlo Z34 with 95K miles. Noticed noise on newly paved highway coming from front wheels/tires, like a "slapping/humming" sound. Suspected broken band on radial tire (tires are newer - Bridgestone G009--good tires). Rotated tires front to back.. sound still there. Dont feel anything in steering wheel. I now suspect wheel bearing/hub assy's. I was trying to test on the highway by inducing sideload left to right without going off into the ditch!!

Should I replace these in front? how about rear while I am at it. Do you recommend a brand? Timken or equiv?
Are they hard to change for the typical backyard mechanic?

Thanks
Chris
