noticed when coming home that left turn signal bulb was out (flashing fast),told girlfriend i still had bulb at home to fix......no problem.....drive appr. 5 more blocks to house and get out to grab stuff from back of van and notice smoke coming from around tail light assembly and the bright flicker of an electrical short or firecoming from the gap where outer gasket of assembly meets sheet metal...........like a fool I ran into house and grabbed extingusher and put out fire ,fire that was hot and long enuff to warp lens assembly and mar paint above it............I haven't even pulled tail light out and looked,I just grabbed keyboard and started typing, something I should have done when i came in the first time.......instead of grabbing extingusher

Re: 2005 Grand Caravan electrical short
First thing to do is to DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.

Re: 2005 T&C electrical fire
I'd be fumin too if that happened to any vehicle I owned. If the van is under any warranty take back to the dealer. I'd file a report with the NHTSA. If this is a recurring event in the fleet they may make it a safety recall and you will get rembersed.
