Angry Please Help

I have a 2000 Grand Prix GTP, it is supercharged but I don't think that has anything to do with my problem. I have had no problems with this car until yesterday which unfortunately for me was a Saturday night with a long time until Monday. It has 126, 000 miles on it and a Delphi Passkey 3 Security System. I drove it yesterday afternoon with no problems and then last night as I was going to the store, it started up for 3 seconds and then died. My fuel pump is fine. I have read easy fixes for Passkey 1 and 2 problems but after about 12 hours of internet searches can find nothing for Passkey 3 except pay to tow it to a dealer and then pay to get it fixed. My husband is a mechanic and pretty good with car electrical problems and computers as well, but nothing is working. We tried to 10 minutes on then off 3 times with no success. Can anyone please help me, before I shell out all of my money to GM and the tow company for a problem they obviously created?

Re: Please Help

Welcome to AF.

Is the SECURITY flashing or on steady? It may not be a VATS issue. Based on your symptom try the fuel pump resistor bypass. See link below

And how do you know the fuel pump is good. Was the fuel pressure checked to see if it is in specs?

Re: Please Help

actually what is weird is when I turn the key on to do the 10 minute cycles, the security light goes off immediately which almost everything I have seen says it should take 10 minutes for the security light to go off. I can hear the fuel pump come on and shut off when I turn the car on and it starts and then after 3 seconds shuts off. When I took out the fuse for the fuel pump it did not come on

Re: Please Help

If that does not work. I only have 1 key to my car. It is marked with the PK3. Is there anyway without taking it to a dealer to reprogram it through the computer myself?

Re: Please Help

If the engine actually starts and run for 3 seconds it is not normally a Passkey III VATS issue. The fuel pump has two speeds controlled by a fuel pump relay and fuel pump speed control relay. The resistor ties into the speed control relay. If the resistor is bad then it never goes to maximum fuel pressure during starting. Try the resistor bypass as mentioned earlier.
