03 durango acceleration problem

I have a 2003 durango 5.9l v8 with 2 wheel drive for some time now whenever I start the car there is there strange whirring sound almost like a fan and the car won't accelerate properly. When I press on the gas it whirrs louder and I have to stop the car and restart it. I usually have to shut it off and then restart a couple of times before it stops. It does not happen all the time, it is on and off and only after starting the car up. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks for your help.

Re: 03 durango acceleration problem

I think what you are hearing is your viscous fan. My 2002 Dodge Durango with the 4.7 L V-8 does this at times and if you try to drive right away there is a big difference in power, power loss, that is. I have been told this is normal. Just a thought. Good luck.
