Golf 1.9 D idler bearing

Hi

Can someone advise me where this bearing is situated please. I bought a cambelt kit which includes the idler bearing as well as the tensioner and belt but cannot see where it goes.

The car is a non turbo golf 1.9D with a 1Y engine, registered December 1996.

Help appreciated.

Rob

Re: Golf 1.9 D idler bearing

1996 diesel doesn't have a idler pulley (bearing). It only has one tensioner. No pulley on that engine. Make sure you have the right belt.

The correct Vw part number is 028-109-119-P. It's about $80 bucks for the belt. It's not cheap but it's correct for the vehicle. With something like t-belts (because they are so important) I prefer to go with genuine dealer parts, regardless of vehicle.
