Can I put a 5-speed in an 84 Fiero?
Hi Everyone,
I have an 84 fiero with the 4-speed transmission and I would like to install a 5-speed. I was thinking about the Isuzu 5-speed from the 85+ years, but I haven't been able to find anything that tells me for sure that I can do this. Everything says they are swappable with 85-88 cars. I don't know if I just didn't look in the right place, or you can't do this. Does anyone know? Thanks

Yes, they do. To pull it off (correctly, without any hacks, tweaks, or other home-brewed mods you may or may not be skilled enough to make) you need to swap the cables and shifter as well.
Kick Hill can put together a complete swap kit for you with all the required parts. Just call for a quote. Muncie 5 speed swaps (common for 85 2.8L v6 cars with 4 speeds), are $1200 + freight, the less popular isuzu will most likely cost a considerable amount less.
