http://www.means-motors.com/

I am just posting this for your information. I have been visiting here for a while and decided to register to see if I can help at times. I own Means Motors. We have been in buisness for 40 years now. We are a small family owned buisness and have remanufactured over 40,000 engines in our 40 years.

Welcome to AF.

At 4 engine rebuilds a day is a lot of engine rebuilding.
But
This is not the proper place to plug your engine rebuilding.

If you want to run a add on AF ckeck with AF administration and for a fee they will place you add.

Re: looking for a good rebuilt engine dealer

I have read GM reman engines are junk.I read about one breaking the crankshaft.Jasper has the better warranty and does lots of upgrades.Jasper finds the fault of a certain engine and and fixes that faulty part with an upgraded one.

Wafrederick
I have heard and experianced that about jasper and 4 start for over 40 years.
But jasper has come up a long ways in 40 year.
They do make a good quality rebuilt engine and have a good warranty.
Also a good heafty price.
Compare GM price and warranty on a new GM engine against Jaspher price and warranty on a rebuilt engine.
But on what you hear
Let way over half of what you hear go in one ear and out the other.
If New Gm engines are junk there is a lt of GM junk on the road.
How is the jasper warranty better?

Re: looking for a good rebuilt engine dealer

corporate America. Gotta love it.
Im not looking to spend what GM or Jasper wants to charge me. Maybe I should rephrase my question:
Does anybody know of any reasonably cheap remanufactured long block dealers on the web, whether or not they are a sponser of this site?

There is a lot of cheaper and cheper ones out there.
Just like auto parts.
But you usually get what you pay for.
Before going a cheap 90 day wonder rebuilt I would check on good used one.
Good Luck

It was actually less sinister than you think. There was a question asked "Looking for a good rebuilt engine dealer" I just happened to read it and respond. I can see how it might look though, but that was not my intention. Sorry if I stepped on any toes.

Thats rather a generalization isn't it? I know of many good and many bad rebuilders in the market. Some of us can build a quality engine with the same parts and machine work as Jasper and Gm for a far less price.

Re: looking for a good rebuilt engine dealer

Used is the way I do it-- Heck I once found a 5.3L with less than 100 miles on it- from a reputable salvage yard for only $1500 - now that's a deal-- just do some internet searches and you'll find plenty of parts-- the best thing is when you can find the whole engine- with all the wiring harnesses still good- that makes it plug and play!!
Plus you get all the spare parts and sensors that way...

Re: looking for a good rebuilt engine dealer

An used engine does not have much of a warranty,30 to 90 days. The other problems is this: Has it been ran before it was pullled out running good?I seen this with a Chrysler 2.5 V6,sounded like it was going to grenade and it sat for a long time. The car was hit badly and the yard did not run it before it was pulled out.The Jasper reman engine is cheaper than a GM reman.Chrsler is this was too. Most Chrysler dealers will talk the customer into a Jasper reman, cheaper and than a Chrysler.

Re: looking for a good rebuilt engine dealer

40,000 over 4 years...that computes to 1.1 per day (running a 7 day per week operation), not 4. At 5 days per week it goes up to 1.5. Oh to be able to redo an engine in one day...and have the garage to do it in...*drool*.

Did you hit the right button an your add machine.

40K in 40 years is 1k a year.

1000 a year at 50 weeks in a year = 20 per week.
At 5 days week = 4 engines per day.
