Stereo and VIC Dead, Ceiling Lights Out?
Ok, so here's the story.
I inadvertenly armed my factory security system yesterday, hopped on the web, read various stories about grounding wires in the kick panel, and tried two wires before I got what I believe is the correct one (purple with yellow stripe). Anyway, for a bit, whenever I opened the driver's door, I'd hear a loud, rapid series of clicks coming from the panel underneath the glove compartment. The clicking would go away when I turned the key to "run" or shut the door. Also, I was getting erratic messages and flickerings from the VIC. I discovered that the clicking was coming from a relay in the panel, and so I pulled the relay out. After some deliberation, I started the engine, and while it was running, I re-inserted the relay into the panel. It hasn't clicked since. After that, I noticed that the VIC was completely dead, and the radio displays "pause" and "12:00". Also, when I open the door, only the courtesy lights under the dash come on, and not the dome lights in the ceiling. The ceiling lights still work if I push on them though. So did I blow the relay with my idiocy? Or is there something else I should check/replace? Regards, CI888 |
