1999 Buick Century LIM bolts - torque & sequence?

My husband is replacing the lower intake manifold gasket on a 1999 Buick Century Custom.

Does anyone have a diagram to look at or anything or can tell me the specifications for the torque on those bolts and the sequence?

Thanks!

Re: 1999 Buick Century LIM bolts - torque & sequence?

On the AutoZone website, there's a repair manual for this car available. I looked up under installing LIM and it says this regarding those bolts:

Bolt installation requires some care. Note that some bolts are "vertical" when installed, others are "diagonal" when installed. Apply a thin, even coat of sealer GM #12345382 or equivalent, to all of the bolt threads. Hand tighten the vertical bolts first, then tighten the diagonal bolts. Note that an oil leak will result if the vertical bolts are not tightened before the diagonal bolts. Now torque the vertical bolts to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm), followed by the diagonal bolts, also to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm).

So, is that correct?

This says 2000 and up. Would a 99 still apply? I know it is a 3.1L (3100), but not sure about the VIN.

Re: 1999 Buick Century LIM bolts - torque & sequence?

Check the 8th digit of the VIN number. If "J" it is applicable if "M" then the torque figure may be different. Some '99 models produced in late 1999 production may have a VIN "J" 3100. I'd have to double check as to LIM bolt torque figures on a VIN "M" to be sure. Also, be careful on Autozone repair info UIM/LIM bolt torque specs. Many figures provided may be erroneous.

OK, I checked the VIN and it's a M.

I had to go to the parts store last night and get oil, filter, antifreeze and such for this car.

While I was at it, there was a Chilton's manual that was opened for that car. I asked the guy if he could look at it and double check. He did and it showed 115 inch lbs.
