94 auto tran - no OD (4 cyl)
Helping my Dad with this one;
Seems he can't get the car into overdrive and the engine compression doesn't work at all in the other gears. Other than that the tranny shifts smoothly on acceleration. We first noticed some shuddering when shortly after shifting from 3rd to OD at fwy speeds - I thought it may have been the cruise control resetting or something electrical. Is the tranny toast ? Any help? tk

What are the conditions and level of ATF?

Check your engine coolant temperature sensor.
