tips on getting gas tank off
first put the car on ramps or jack up the back, spray the gas tank straps down with a good penatrating oil every few hours for a day or two.
next day put the front of the car on ramps and remove the exhaust from the exhaust manifold. now lower the front and put the back in the air. remove the exhaust from all the hangers and remove it by sliding it out from the back of the car. you can try to remove the gas tank bolts but if you live in the snow belt best bet is to just cut the straps. unhook all the hoses and wire connectors then lower the tank the rest of the way. if you had to cut the straps now is a good time to use a grinder to grind the bolts out. anyone with other tips on getting the gas tank out feel free to include them

Re: tips on getting gas tank off
I did my 97 with a full tank of gas ($4.00 Gallon plus then). Bolts came out fine. Didn't cut the straps. Didn't touch the exhaust manifold. Just took the nuts off and moved the muffler over a bit.
Chris.

Re: tips on getting gas tank off
I appreciate the tips. I'm hoping not to have to go that route. This car is clean so I'm guessing taking bolts out will be the procedure and not having to cut the straps. I'm working all week and won't get to the car. The thing starts everytime now so there isn't any codes displayed. I will get the pressure checked and take it from there. Thanks again.
