cruise control and trip odometer

some time a little while ago(maybe a week ago) i noticed that cruise control doesn't work on my car anymore, and that the trip odometer doesn't move up from all zero's. i wouldn't really be bothered by something like this, but its just the fact that i know my cruise control was working about a month ago, and the same thing with the trip odometer.

any ideas or troubleshooting advice you can give me as to why this may happen. i did just recently get the crankshaft sensor changed, but i don't know if that could interfere with with the cruise control or trip odoemeter.

Re: cruise control and trip odometer

One simple thing to check is the third brake light in the back window. If its burned out the cruise won't work. Also check the fuse for the cruise. Another possible thing is the brake light switch that is mounted in front of the brake pedal might need replacing. Good luck.

The third brake light uses the same circuit as the brake light switch, however, it operates independent and if the bulb is blown, it has no effect on the cruise control operation! (Check the schematic.)

You may be right here.
