door locks constantly doing something

Hello,

While on vacation and after a real hard rain my '98 Jimmy's door locks work constantly. Be it either lock or unlock and sometimes even pop'ng the rear window.

I have pulled fuse #7 to keep that circuit from operating and will manually lock and unlock the doors until I get home.

However I still don't know the root of the problem. Should I look at the master control in the drivers door or the multifunction lock in the rear gate? I'm leaning toward the gate. I have the gate lock unlocked and will leave it unlocked till I figure this out.

Should I just order the $96 latch at GMpartsdirect for $56? or the $140 lock? I'm thinking the lock which is in the bottom of the door is fine just the electrical connection at the latch is the issue.

Any help is appreciated.

Chris

Re: door locks constantly doing something

Just an FYI,

I popped off the inside panel and unplugged the 4 wire connector from the lock cylinder and the symptoms went away.

The all 5 power locks work with the 2 front buttons and the gate window pops from the dash button.

Looks like the switches inside that lock cylinder wears out or does not like sitting out in the rain.
