axle shafts?

While I'm installing upgraded brakes, I'm wondering if I should install beefier axle shafts. The stock ones are pretty tiny, plus they pop with the wheel cranked all the way and spinning the wheels at 30 MPH (doughnuts), so I'll probably replace them anyway just to be safe. Any suggestions what to get?

Re: axle shafts?

The stock shafts will hold quite a bit of torque if don't let the wheels hop while trying to accelerate fast, this causes them to snap.

If you want beefier cv shafts your looking at a pretty penny. www.driveshaftshop.com is the place to get em from.

Re: axle shafts?

Wow... thanks but no thanks! No way am I paying $800 for an axleshaft. I'm easy on the clutch anyway, and I'm going to order a set of poly control arm bushings anyway. Maybe I'll get a set if I ever have a need for the level 5s, but I don't think that's realistic for 2.2 liters

Sure there is a reason for the stage 5's.

Hahn has a streetable sunfire which does 10 second 1/4 mile passes and putting down well over 600hp in a 2.2 ecotec.
