Mitsubishi Euro LV Minivan problem

I have a 1994 Mitsubishi Euro LV Minivan. I am not the orginial owner so the recall on it is no good for me. My problem is the automatic transmission is slipping and thats what the recall was for,it seems that others who have owned a minivan have put at least two transmissions in them. What I wanted to ask is there a interchangable automatic transmission of another model that I can put in that will work with the van. I would love to keep it but with the problems of the transmission I don't know if I'll be able to.

Any recall that has not been performed on a vehicle must be done no matter how many people have owned it or how many miles are on it.
