1999 transmission install

Hi,

I'm having a friend install a used 1999 Intrigue transmission (60,000 miles) in my daughter's car. Her's quit (whining, slips, jerks, etc...) ....code P0742 is on, as well as the trac off light. New fliuds awhile back didn't help.........I need to get the fluids, etc. for the installation. Anything recommended, in terms of fluids, any additional parts, etc.....

Thanks,

Rick

Re: 1999 transmission install

i have no idea what the last guy said, lol although im sure he meant well. DEXRON-III is the fluid you want, DEXRON-VI is a newer standard introduced in 2005 that is compatible with all older transmissions that used DEXRON-III and all newer transmissions specifically requiring DEXRON-VI.

Glad you got it going... What did the replacement trans come from? And being that you are in California you might consider a small Trans cooler ran inline to aid cooling a bit...
