Misfire causes?

throwing a misfire code, dealer couldn't tell me what it was. (worst dealership I have ever stepped foot in.) Has brand new plugs, wires, fuel pump regulator. Is there a way to test the ignition coils? Could the O2 sensor cause misfire? O2 sensor has it's own code, right? Anyway looking for ideas on parts I should test and or replace. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Re: Misfire causes?

Can you scan it for the exact code(s)? Pull plugs until you find a wet one. Switch coil packs with another cylinder. See if that plug then becomes wet with unburned fuel. You could also use a code reader to see if a cylinder specific miss follows the coilpack.

Re: Misfire causes?

I was getting the ramdon misfire codes after a new set of spark plugs. Turned out I had used to much of anti-seize or the di-electric goop on them. After half a day and alot of question, it was finally figured out. Just took them out for about the third time and cleaned them and reinstalled with a tiny bit of that stuff and all was well.Andie
