Question '00 Durango OBD

I live in Texas and we have to emissions tested every year. They hooked up it up to the computer last year and it wouldn't communicate with the states computer, no big deal, stuck it on the rollers and tested it that way. Took it in today and same issue, big deal this year, can't put it on the rollers. Any one have any clue what we would need to replace to get the thing inspected? Has anyone else had this issue?

Had a check engine light come on a couple of months ago, it hooked up fine to that scanner and gave the code. Can't figure out the issue with the state. Only have til the end of March to get it fixed or it's parked.

Thanks,
Kathy

Re: '00 Durango OBD

Make sure there aren't any pennies in the cig lighter or aux socket. Check your fuses and let us know if any of em are blown.

Re: '00 Durango OBD

Was it rejected because not enough monitors were ready or was it a communication problem?

Re: '00 Durango OBD

Texas has changed their test procedure which you can read about here.
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/Misc/faq/faq_obdii.htm. Some Durango's also had a flash for a communiction problem with generic scan tools; which could be your problem.

Re: '00 Durango OBD

Checked the fuses, all are fine. No pennies anywhere they shouldn't be. Went back to the guy that inspects our vehicles (had to get the 99 Ram inspected) and he remembered a bulletin he got from the state after he noticed I had a non factory radio installed. Seems that if the installer hooked into one of the wires that goes into the OBD wire, it causes this problem. Waiting on hubby to get home from out of town to see if Best Buy did install the radio wrong or not. Didn't have this problem with the OBD til I got this radio installed, so I'm hoping this is the problem. I'll keep you updated, just in case anyone else has the same issue.
