Talking 454 ss gauges

does anyone know if the 88 454 ss gauges will swap out for the 88 1500 gauges. Ive done some mods and my truck does well over 110. I want a speedo thats a little more accurate and has a higher top out unlike the 85 mph that seems to wrap around at about 95mph. I jst want to know where my true top out is, i have run even with a worked talon tsi down the highway but radar alarms started buggin. So i need to know if the 454ss dash will clip into and function in a c 1500. thanks

i know that's the case in the newer trucks, which have different speedos, but only one sending unit from the trans.

it would make sense that you could plug in the different cluster if it works on the newer ones, it should be the same technology.

i'm not sure on the origin of the 454ss and what year, but know they didn't make nearly the power that motor is capable of...

what are you running for suspension upgrades and wheel/tire combo?

i did some more thinking on this topic, and i know for a fact that the 454ss wasn't around in 88, considering that that's the first year of the 88-98 body style. the 454 was in the the 88-93 front end range (they changed the grille in 94)...

but i think it was more in the 92ish range, definitely not in 88.

Should work.
92 to 94 Has a different connector and used a separate DRAC (digital ratio analog controller)(clear plasic box behind the glove box comp.)for the veh. speed calibration so you could not use anything newer than 91.

88-91 used the cluster for veh. speed calibration and all shared the same connector.

454ss years

According to the 454ss.com website they were produced from 90-93. 1990 is the most common year. This is mainly because they produced 13,748. In the other years, these trucks were made in very limited quantities. I know this is not the point of this thread but, I thought this might be an interesting piece of trivia.
