Re: 05 Escape cabin filter
Welcome to Automotive Forums.
You will need a flathead screwdriver and a phillips Locate the circular black caps on the passenger side plastic piece just below where the windshield wipers rest. May be seen best with the hood closed. Remove the 4 caps by prying them off with a flathead screwdrever. Set them aside. Take out the screws you have uncovered and unscrew the phillips screws holding the molded plastic piece down. Pull up gently the molded plastic piece to reveal the cabin air filter. Push the piece aside as much as possible. You don't have to completely take it out to access the filter. Remove the old cabin filter by pulling up on it by the handle. Insert the new filter. Reattatch the molded plastic piece by reversing the steps you tookto loosen it. |

This is a good write-up Dave. I have two more steps to add.................. 1) Curse the fact that you cracked two of the black caps by not selecting the best sized screwdriver for the task and rushed through this step. 2) Curse even louder because while your back was turned one of those caps rolled off somewhere and couldn't be located right away. Complete the uttering of pirate-like foul oaths when you realize that the black cap managed to get under the back edge of the front tire and wasn't noticed until you pull backward in the driveway to find a flattened black cap. Ask me how I know.... .
