Protege oil filter?

Can someone tell me WHERE the oil filter is located on a 1995 Protege, 1.5L, DOHC engine? Also, at one time, I was told that changing the oil filter required a special tool, not one of the usual types of oil filter wrenches (strap-type, cap-type, of which I have one each). Is that true and, if so, is that a dealer specific tool?

Any help will be appreciated!

Patrick

Re: Protege oil filter?

It is behind your alternator on your block, probably the back of the engine. It appears to be a standard oil filter.
