engine swap, 98-99, smog pump hoses on headers??

Hi i was hooking the last of the connections up to my truck, i was wondering why there is an extra hose, i looked at the old engine(99) and realized it had smog pump hoses that go to each side of the exhaust manifold.....so i was wondering if there was a possible way to get rid of it, or do i have to take the manifolds off of the 99 engine and put it on the 98 engine? what i did was take a 98 engine out to instal into a 99 chevy s10 zr2, both are zr2's any help would be awsome, thanks

Emission control specs go by the year of the vehicle, not the engine. If your state requires emission testing, you'll need to install the secondary air injection system onto the 98 engine in the 99 Blazer in order for the system to pass.
