missing out when warm?

I inharited a '92 Skylark 3300 with 42,000 miles from my mother. The problem is it runs great. Except when bring it home on a 300 mile trip.I was using the interstate and when I slowed down to a stop the car missed out.I tried to give it gas to keep it running. This didn't work .When trying to restart the car restarted and died everytime I put the car in gear.My mechanic says that The computer doesn't retain the memory like my 2006 impala. So now way of telling what is wrong.any help would be nice. Thanks Ken N.

I have a 91 skylark the would do that after long trips--every stop light would stall but restart right away would have to gas it before shifting -techs at my work diconnected a sensor for the convertor which corrected the problem and I only loss about 2mpg by doing that--was told it was a common problem with these vehicles--connection is under hood on drivers side towards bottom of engine--worth a try

Re: missing out when warm?

yah he probably unhook the o-2 sensor out on that one but it really does sound like your cat or coil pack is probably the problem if it dies all the time it gets really hot. you should smell cat when your getting out of car if thats it. if not i'd give it a good tuning up. one more thing a maf will die a start right back up tho. may want to look for mice nest clogging something up if it's been parked for a period time and get fuel pump tested for psi.....good luck.....
