Anti-freeze leak

Have a small leak on what I think is the water crossover on my 2001 3.5L. Is the water crossover located under the throttle body and does if have the upper radiator hose connected to it?

Do we have the removal procedure documented anywhere?

The leak is on the driver side and only a few drops on the ground.

Thanks

you can probably try STP radiator stop leak. This should fix the problem.

Re: Anti-freeze leak

Bsansa--

I've done a little research on this, and it appears that the rear exhaust manifold has to come loose to loosen the water crossover to replace the gaskets.

I've sent you a PM on this.. PM me back with an e-mail address if you want to chat. I haven't done this repair, but I found an Aurora 3.5L forum where several members have replaced the crossover gaskets on the same engine that's in the Intrigue.

Has anyone worked on the rear exhaust header without a car lift on these 3.5's?

Re: Anti-freeze leak

Hi Carbon2
I am getting ready to change the crossover manifold my self as the leak is getting a little too much for comfort. Is there any word on the rear exhaust manifold needing to be moved?

Re: Anti-freeze leak

After a google search I found an Aurora Forum that discusses this topic. Note the posts from Aurora2001tan on that forum. It seems like it requires the back manifold to be loosened, but not removed so that there's enough clearence to get the bolts out of the crossover.

It looks like this may not be a DIY type repair. Has anyone done exhaust rear header work with this engine?

Re: Anti-freeze leak

I had the same leak on the driver side and found a small hairline crack by the upper radiator hose . I thought my hose clamp was bad but the coolant leaked down and around the bottom of the hose/flange. I never saw because it leaked only a little when at highest temp but was burning off so the area always looked dry.
