i have a 1997 mercury mountaineer with the stock jbl headunit, 6disc changer, and amp and sub in the passenger side rear molding. well i cant find a wiring harness that will plug into my factory harness to hook an aftermarket cd player up into my dash. so i am wondering if anyone can tell me which wires go for which speaker and where they are at?? i dont care if i lose the use of my changer or not

Re: cant find my speaker wires

Are you looking for the speaker wires into the factory amplifier or after the factory amplifier?

For the front speakers on the JBL system, it appears they are connected directly to the radio. The LH front speaker wires are the Orange/Lt Green (+) and the Lt Blue/White (-) wires. For the RH front speaker, it's White/Lt Green (+) and Dark Green/Orange (-). For the rear speakers, the colors are Tan/White and Tan/Yellow for the LH rear and Tan/Yellow and Brown/Pink for the RH rear. Only the Brown/Pink (-) and Tan/Yellow (-) will be at the radio for the rear speakers. The remaining two wires go from the rear integrated control panel to the rear speakers. The input for the two remaining wires at the radio will be Gray/Lt Blue (LH +) and Orange/Red (RH +).

The subwoofer speaker wires are Black/Lt Green and Black/White from the subwoofer amplifier. The inputs to the subwoofer amplifier are Brown/Orange (+), Red/Black (-), and Dark Green/Pink (remote turn on, 5V logic level).

Also keep in mind this information is for a 1998 Mountaineer. Your 1997 could be different.
