95TC - In the Car valve stem seal replacement

AZO -Ordered new valve seals, valve cover gaskets, and using tools for Free!

Parts = $75

Using a Compression gage tester and a valve spring compressor!

95TC/180K miles

I wounder how much Lincoln service would charge for this procedure? $1000

A back Yard Tech was going to charge $300.

I think this procedure is impossible, because there is no room with a V8.

Re: 95TC - In the Car valve stem seal replacement

1) Visual Inspect dual exhaust with Engine running & pick the worst smoker 1st.
2) Check compression on bad bank cyclinders.

95TC/180K miles + 125psi on each cylinder (1-4) on R-bank.

If < 75 psi, Stop project! (Cancer) Not worth Time + money!
If = 75 psi or > Continue to step 3.

3) Removed bad BANK Valve cover!
Need a deep dish 8mm socket + 8mm box end/open end Ratchet Wrench.

Caution - This project isn't Easy!

IF OHC,the cam sprocket can be tie wrap with chain,so you don't loose Auto Timing.
IF OHC,the cam needs to be removed.
IF OHC,compressed Air 125psi is being used for each cylinder when replacing
valve stem seals.

Non OHC cont-

4) Remove Spark Plugs wires on bad Bank.
5) Remove Spark plug on cylinder + valves, that you want to attack 1st!
6) Put a little oil in Spark Plug hole.
7) Connect Compression guage on cylinder + valves, that you are working on.
8) Bump/Turn Eng over with starter until Max compression.

Note: The compression stroke on this cylinder will hold valves up,when taking off valve springs.

9) Attack valve stem seals on that cylinder only!
10) Put Spark plug back in.
11) Repeat steps 5-10 on the other three cylinders.
12) Put Spark Plug wires back on.
13) Put Valve cover on.

1/2 the problem is over! & you can still drive car.
Take a Beer break,or a week off!

14) Repeat steps 1-11 on the other BANK as needed.

Re: 95TC - In the Car valve stem seal replacement

I didn't call you Gay!

As long as you have Regular oil changes and keep up oil, your car should be fine for a a few years or
300K miles.

If keeping car for life,I would consider a rebuild with a Manufactured warranty (12k/1-year) after 300K miles!

FORD has new Motor 3-year/100k miles for $3500.

Need a new valve Spring Compressor, because AZ0 (OEM) isn't working.
OEM - $20
LISLE = $30
FORD - OTC7928303 $120 , The cam needs to be in car for this valve spring compressor.
AmPro - T70034 @ Advance Auto for $23.
Had to cut-off handle to make work!

This procedure might work good on a 4 cylinder Auto!

OR

Maybe if I jack Engine-up!

OR

Connect a small person from ankles + host while making repairs!

Hey Kitt!
How tall are you?

They probably charge $400 for a Lucas oil Treatment.

LOL - I hope you guys can same some money & Time @ my Expense!

Re: 95TC - In the Car valve stem seal replacement

Hey enough with the short jokes already. Don't make me separate you two. I might be short but I carry a big stick. Sounds like a pissing contest here. Let them lincolns smoke, it only bothers the cars behind you, right. Play nice Bryan and Danny

Re: 95TC - In the Car valve stem seal replacement

1qtr oil every 300 miles!
100K miles/300 = How many more quarts?
333 Quarts X $3 a quart = $1k (Almost a new motor).

Maybe we can use some recycle 3K mile motor oil until new Motor.
The other car filter has already filtered oil.

1 quart every 300 miles ,so 9 quarts of used oil are being used between 3K mile new oil/filter change!

Hell - Look @ Fords way of going Green!
2010 - Ford blue 540HP Cobra Shelby Mustang!

Look at it like giving Blood @ Red cross!
You are giving life to an old TC.

LOL- Hey Yard dog!

I don't think Carjacking is a issue with a smokin TC ,it's to easy to see from the Air.
All criminals arn't dumb!,look @ Wallst!
Will a Photo traffic light pick up your Lic plate on a smokin Lincoln?
How about a miss during a drive by shooting!

Re: 95TC - In the Car valve stem seal replacement

No room,This project sucks!

I will wait until Transmission go's bad & Pull out both Eng/Trans.

Rebuild HEADS,and Buy a remanufactured Transmission + Torque converter.

A little extra oil being burned is less Wear + tear on Motor!

I was looking for a Ford Valve spring compressor @ dealership, and the
Technicans laught, said '' They don't mess with that shit!

'''Thats why the Big 3 Have problems'', we can Blame it on the UAW'!

Maybe I can covert into a Taxi, and use the tip monies for Oil!

Towncar has two other ''In The Car Valve Seal replacement'' procedures:

Re: 95TC - In the Car valve stem seal replacement

Back in progress with ''In The Car Valve Stem Seal replacement''.

9) I found another Type Valve Spring Compressor made by AmPro T70034 for $23 @
Advance Auto Parts. Lifetime Warranty!

(a) Spray a little WD40 on top of Valve Spring + keepers.
(b) Using a hammer + deep socket ,Tap on Valve spring + Keeper.
(c) Plug motor block hole,so keepers don't fall into the Block.
(d) Using Compression Tester,Air gage, and a Metal Tire valve stem!
put 125psi of Air into cylinder.

Note: Any hardware store can hook you up,if you bring in your Auto Compression Tester.

(e) Watch pressure gage to maintain 125psi.

Caution- If not Valves could drop!.

(f) Compress Valve Spring
(g) Use a good Magnet to grab keepers.
(h) Remove Spring and bad valve stem seal.
(i) Maintain 125psi on cylinder and put on new seal, spring, and keepers on.
(j) Rpeat (a-i) on other three cyclinders.
Get out of way the way Kitt!

Bingo!

Helpful Hints:
1) Forget about those cheap Valve Spring compressors!
2) Used 1/2'' extenshion & socket to mussel off the valve Spring and keepers.
3) Compress valve spring with a very large pair of channellock pliers + using two
Tywraps to keep spring compressed while putting in keepers.
4) You will need extra keepers, because of loss.
5) Cut & pull tywraps out.
