Transmission alert

Just bought a used 2000 continental. Service engine soon on and Check Transmission comes on after time. Transmission seems OK. Had all fluids changed. Still have alerts. Car has 123k on it. Any thoughts/fixes?

Re: Transmission alert

Ask this to lincolnsonline.com. They seem to have Lincoln lovers on 24/7. I too have a 2000 Lincoln and have heard to replace the transmission fluid in 3rds or you can make the trans very unhappy. That being the case, I should have it changed before my extended warranty runs out.

Definately have the codes read to see what the car is telling you.

Had codes read and it indicated a 'stuck' component in the module, which I'm guessing is in the valve body.

Re: Transmission alert

Well that sucks.. I'm not familiar with that specific code however, I know our transmissions are not maintenance free.. in fact, far from it.

Recommended fluid flush intervals are 30k to 40k miles to be somewhat trouble free.

Also, Ford advises a fluid modifier is prudent in most cases. Get yourself (2) two bottles of Lubegard.. from Lubegard.com if you can't find it anywhere else. This little miracle worker just might free that stuck valve.

Note: There are two basic types of Lubegard depending on your fluid type, get the right one.

I'm using the RED version, but I think your 2000 is the GREEN or universal versions. No gaurantee but, we have 100's of sucess stories and no failures!!
